EXO leader Suho took the stage as the MC for Kai’s solo comeback showcase, bringing laughter and heartfelt moments to the event.
On April 21, Kai held a media showcase at YES24 Live Hall in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, to celebrate the release of his fourth mini-album, Wait On Me.
Suho Jokes About Hosting Kai’s Comeback Showcase
Suho, who hosted the event, introduced himself by saying, “I’m Suho, leader of EXO,” and praised Kai warmly, adding, “This is the hottest showcase around. I heard he’s conquered everything from YouTube to variety shows.”
In response, Kai expressed his gratitude: “Thank you to Suho hyung for hosting today. It means a lot that he’s here to support me on my comeback.” Suho shared that it was a gesture of returning the favor, “When I was discharged and released my first album in two years, Kai hosted my showcase. I didn’t forget, so here I am.”
Suho brought humor to the showcase with his witty remarks, saying, “I thought being an MC would be easy, but I should’ve come more prepared. I should’ve watched senior Super Junior members host, maybe I would’ve done better.”
He continued joking, “Since this is Kai’s long-awaited comeback, even SM’s CEO is here. I don’t think I’ll be allowed to MC again after today. No one’s going to call me to host rookie debuts. Honestly, that’s a bit of a relief.” He concluded with humility, saying, “I have nothing to offer but an apology.”
Kai’s Long-Awaited Return
This marks Kai’s first album in nearly two years, following his 2023 mini-album Rover. The title track Wait On Me is a pop song that incorporates Afrobeats rhythms, combining restrained percussion grooves with tension-building synth strings. The track explores the beauty of slowly revealing emotions, with choreography that directly expresses the word “Wait,” as well as a powerful dance break.
The album includes the pre-released track Adult Swim, known for its laid-back and refreshing vibe, along with Walls Don’t Talk, Pressure, Ridin’, Off and Away, and Flight to Paris. These songs capture Kai’s emotional growth and maturity after a long period of waiting.
